created camera archive - missing clips in event?

Been wrangling a lot of material. Been making camera archives first, simultaneously making a proxy. Everything fine. The last attempt though, I've suddenly got an issue. There is only a single clip in the Event from the camera archive once created. I look at the archive file itself and it is the appropriate size. When I do an 'import' and check the camera archive file, everything is there, scores of clips. But there is only a single clip from that archive in the event itself. ??? So what happened to all the other clips?

And, I can't do a 'Re-import from camera archive' because it tells me 'nothing is missing'.

I don't want to redo the whole process.

Is there some reason why I'm not seeing all the clips from the archive IN the EVENT list? And how can I recover them? I'm in production, need the card, which is still sitting in the computer till I figure this out. Help!!

Russ ... Sorry about the too succinct answer. Yes. Checked 'All Clips' first thing. I'm seeing all the clips from the last camera archive load.

Luis. That was my first thought. But if I checked only ONE clip, then why would the archive itself be 60 plus gigs? And when I look at the camera archive vis-a-vis the import window ... I see all the clips there.

Aha. Perhaps you are right. It seems that FCPX created a full camera archive ... but only imported into the event one clip. And only one Proxy file.

So I'm going to do an import FROM the camera archive now (instead of the card) and see how that works.

And that would be my next question: If I only highlighted a single clip from the SD card, how come FCPX created a full camera archive of everything on the clip?

So I'm now importing all the missing files NOT from the card, but from the camera archive that was created even though I'd only highlighted a single clip.

It's working fine.

Thank you guys, very helpful as always. So the only question I have now is ... does FCPX automatically created a full camera archive of the card regardless of how many clips I select (highlight)?

It operates at the volume level. If your Mac and FCP "sees" the card, and you tell it to create an archive, it will make an archive with the entire contents – regardless of whether you select one clip, two clips, or more.
